Our Team

Lex Ewen, P.Eng
- CEO, Partner

Lex Ewen, P.Eng. is a professional engineer with more than a decade of technical experience in the energy sector, with a focus on upstream oil and gas operations across Western Canada. His career spans a wide range of project types, including drilling, completions, abandonments, reclamations, and field-based environmental work. Lex has developed particular expertise in liability management and mergers and acquisitions, often supporting clients through complex asset evaluations, risk assessments, and strategic planning tied to regulatory and environmental obligations.

Lex began his consulting career with the founding of Entrack Consulting Ltd., a Saskatchewan based firm that specialized in oil and gas well abandonment and site reclamation. Under his leadership, the company quickly became a trusted technical advisor to producers, regulators, and investors. That venture evolved into the Edge Group of Companies (including Edge Engineering and Geoscience (consulting firm) and Edge LRM Operations Ltd (liability transfer and production company). Edge LRM Operations Ltd. was successfully acquired in April 2023, returning strong value to its shareholders. He currently serves as CEO of Edge Engineering and Geoscience Ltd. and is an active partner in several junior resource companies, where he continues to advise on technical operations, asset optimization, and regulatory strategy.

Lex holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Petroleum Systems Engineering from the University of Regina. His blend of field experience, technical depth, and deal-making acumen has positioned him to tackle any complex resource based problem in Western Canada's energy landscape.

As Chief Engineer at Edge, John leads the technical design and execution of drilling and development projects across oil and gas, helium, lithium, and potash.

John is recognized for his innovative and practical approach to engineering - applying deep technical knowledge and creative problem-solving to address unique operational constraints, regulatory hurdles, and geological variability. He has extensive experience optimizing well designs, planning for long- lead equipment, and troubleshooting field challenges in both conventional and emerging energy projects. John holds a Diploma of Technology (Hydrocarbon Engineering) from NAIT (1981) and a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Petroleum Engineering from Montana Tech (1987).

Ed Dancsok, P.Eng., P.Geo
- Chief Geoscientist, Partner

Ed Dancsok, P.Eng., P.Geo. is a rare dual-designated professional, licensed as both a professional engineer and professional geoscientist, with over 40 years of hands-on experience in the oil and gas industry. His career has spanned technical consulting, field operations, and regulatory advisory roles, with deep expertise in geological prospecting, subsurface mapping, log interpretation, core analysis, and well location selection across the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin—particularly the Williston Basin in Saskatchewan.

Ed is widely recognized for his skill in integrating geological and engineering perspectives to support exploration and development strategies. He has provided technical leadership in reservoir characterization, groundwater and aquifer monitoring, and compliance-driven project planning. His work often bridges industry and regulatory frameworks, making him a valued advisor on regulatory compliance, permitting, and environmental monitoring.
Before entering consulting, Ed served as Assistant Deputy Minister of Energy at the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources, where he played a central role in shaping policy and regulatory approaches during a period of rapid growth and transformation in the province’s oil and gas sector. His tenure was marked by close collaboration with industry stakeholders, technical professionals, and government bodies to ensure responsible resource development. In addition, he has a comprehensive knowledge of crown petroleum and natural gas rights disposition management and was involved with the formation of the treaty land entitlement (TLE) framework agreement.
